Jewellery Care

Caring for Your Lorn Jean® Jewellery – Preserve the Beauty of Sterling Silver & 18ct Gold

How to Care For Your 925 Sterling Silver Jewellery

Day to Day Care
  • Wear your silver jewellery often. Regular wearing helps prevent tarnish due to the natural oils in your skin.
  • After each wear, gently wipe your silver pieces with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any residues and maintain shine.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive materials to protect the silver’s delicate surface.
Protection
  • Remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing, or using household chemicals to protect the metals, as these activities could tarnish the metal over time.
  • Minimise contact with lotions, perfumes, and hair products to maintain its lustre.
  • Store your jewellery in a low-humidity environment.
Storing Your Jewellery
  • Separate Pieces. To avoid scratches and tangling, store your jewellery pieces separately. Jewellery can scratch when it comes into contact with other pieces.
  • Store your Lorn Jean creations individually in the soft pouchette provided at the time of purchase. Your Lorn Jean storage pouch features a two-sided design, so if you purchased a pair of earrings, ensure you store one earring in each section for full protection.
Gentle Cleaning
  • For a deeper yet gentle clean, place your items into an empty bowl. Add a few drops of mild soap with a neutral pH, and use a very soft brush to gently clean the piece. Then, rinse the piece thoroughly to ensure the removal of residue and pat dry. For the final shine, buff your piece with a soft jewellery cloth.
  • Consider having your silver jewellery professionally cleaned and polished periodically to maintain its lustre. Contact our client care team if you require more advice.

How to Care For Your 18ct Gold Jewellery

Day to Day Care

Our 9ct gold is a brilliant choice for everyday jewellery due to its durability and soft gold hue. 18K gold, being a softer metal, requires extra care to preserve its brilliance. It’s important to maintain your precious pieces, even the more durable ones, to keep them looking their best.

  • Handle with Care: Remove your jewellery when washing your hands or using corrosive products, which could damage the precious metal.
  • Avoid Scratches: Be mindful of regular activities that may scratch or damage your items.
During Wear

Although many people wear their 9ct and 18ct gold jewellery for various activities and rarely take it off, this is not recommended for maintaining your jewellery in its best condition over time. As gold jewellery is a precious metal that retains value, it is recommended to treat it with care to avoid damage.

  • Remove before swimming, especially in chlorinated or saltwater.
  • Keep away from harsh chemicals, such as household cleaners, lotions, and perfumes.
Storing Your Jewellery

Your gold jewellery will come in a soft Lorn Jean pouch. This pouch has a two-sided design to allow you to store earrings separately to avoid friction or scratches. We recommend storing your items individually in the pouch provided at the time of purchase.

  • Keep pieces separate to maintain their brilliance.
Gentle Cleaning

Gentle Cleaning guidance for 9ct & 18ct Gold:

  • Regular Cleaning: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth to remove oils and dirt. Buff gently with a soft cloth to maintain the gold’s natural glow.
  • Monthly Cleaning: For daily wear, clean periodically to remove dirt and buildup. Use warm, soapy water with a neutral pH soap. Gently clean with a very soft brush, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, and dry with a soft cloth. Buff to a beautiful shine.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Avoid abrasive cleaners to prevent scratches.

By following these guidelines, your Lorn Jean gold jewellery will retain its elegance and shine for years to come.
